Safety Relay SAFE-TWO-HAND – Two-Hand Control Type IIIC up to SIL 3 / PL e
The SAFE-TWO-HAND from SALZ Automation is a compact safety relay for implementing and monitoring two-hand controls according to EN ISO 13851 Type IIIC. It protects operators of machines and systems by only enabling dangerous movements when both two-hand buttons are actuated simultaneously within 0.5 seconds.
Through integrated self-monitoring, the safety module detects faults such as short circuits, wire breaks, contact faults, or defects in external contactors. The safety function is maintained even with single faults and meets the requirements up to Category 4, PL e according to EN ISO 13849-1, as well as SILCL 3 according to EN 62061.
The module features two safe, instantaneous normally open contacts, as well as a feedback loop for monitoring external contactors or expansion modules. LED indicators enable quick diagnosis of operating and switching states. Thanks to its narrow design of only 22.5 mm, the safety relay is ideal for modern control cabinets and machine controls.
Safe shutdown occurs within less than 20 ms after releasing a button. This makes the module optimally suited for presses, punching machines, bending machines, and other machinery with increased hazard potential.
